Video of Tiger Devore, Ph.D.
This video was shot at a training session for mental health professionals for the Lake County (Illinois) Department of Health in October, 2011.
Tiger is a psychologist and sex therapist. He has hypospadias.
The talk is about psychological issues common among people with differences of sex development (DSDs).
Tiger gives detailed descriptions of what it is like for a child with differences in their genitalia. Included are some of the questions a child may have about his/her own body, ability to be sexually intimate, ability to have children, and ability to have friendships with other children who have "normal" bodies. Tiger also discusses some of the experiences a child may have had before, during, and after surgery.
This video may be emotionally difficult to view. Adults with a DSD may find that unpleasant memories and feelings are brought up again after viewing it.
Note: This video was the first I ever shot, before I learned how to pan the camera. Sorry about that! --Betty
The video is in FLV format, about 45 minutes in length, 180Mb in size.
Be prepared to turn up the sound--Tiger speaks softly.
